Feeding Directions

Foals and Weanlings:  This product is not recommended for use a foal creep feed.  For foals and weanlings we recommend Producer Quik pellet or Horse H.  Feed Horse H (16%) from weaning up to 14 months of age.

Yearlings and Two Year Olds:  Feed at the rate of 0.75-1.50% of body weight per day.  For most horses this amounts to 8-12 lbs. per day.  Adjust intake up or down depending on body condition, desired growth rate, forage quality and availability.

Mares: Barren and early pregnant mares should consume
4-6 lbs. per day if good quality forage is available or 8-10 lbs. per day if poor quality forage is being fed.  Late pregnant mares should be fed 8-10 lbs. per day plus liberal quantities of good quality forage.  Lactating mares should be fed 10-12 lbs. per day in addition to liberal quantities of good quality hay and/or pasture.  If grass hay and/or fescue pasture is being used for lactating mares, we recommend Producer 16% Horse H.

Pleasure and Performance Horses: Feed at the rate of 0.25-1.5% of body weight (4-14 lbs.) per day for most light breeds (depending on work intensity, body condition and quality of forage available).  Adjust feed intake to maintain desired body condition.

Stallions: During breeding season feed at the rate of 10-15 lbs. per day depending on body condition.  If more than 10 pounds per day is required, divide the total daily grain intake into 3 meals.  We recommend never feeding more than 5 lbs. of grain in any one feeding.  Grain intake will be determined by breeding activity and forage quality.  During the non-breeding season feed at the rate of 4-10 pounds per day as required to maintain desired body condition along with liberal quantities of pasture and/or hay.
